FCC Certification and Process

FCC certification introduction is also known as the US Federal Communications Certification: FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is the US Federal Communications Commission established in 1934 by COMMUNICATIONACT is an independent agency of the US government, directly responsible to Congress.

The FCC coordinates domestic and international communications by controlling radio, television, telecommunications, satellite and cable. Involving more than 50 states in the United States, Columbia and the United States, in order to ensure the safety of radio and wire communication products related to life and property, the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology is responsible for the technical support of the committee, and is also responsible for equipment Recognition matters.

Many radio application products, communication products and digital products require FCC approval to enter the US market. The FCC committee investigates and studies the various stages of product safety to find the best way to solve the problem, and the FCC also includes the inspection of radio devices, aircraft, and more.

According to the relevant part of the US Federal Communications Regulations (CFR 47 part), all electronic products entering the United States need to be certified for electromagnetic compatibility (except for some products specified in relevant terms). There are three common certification methods: Certification, Doc, Verification. The certification methods and procedures of these three products are quite different, and the certification methods that can be selected for different products are stipulated in the FCC. Its certification is of decreasing rigor. For these three certifications, the FCC committee also has relevant requirements for each laboratory.

At present, the United States has become my country’s second largest trading partner for several consecutive years, and the trade volume between China and the United States is increasing year by year, so exports to the United States should not be underestimated. The strictness of product technical standards and import regulations in the United States ranks first in the world. Understanding the US market access rules will help Chinese products to further open up the US market.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) — regulates the import and use of radio frequency devices, including computers, fax machines, electronic devices, radio receiving and transmitting equipment, radio-controlled toys, telephones, personal computers, and other products that may harm personal safety. If these products are to be exported to the United States, they must be tested and approved by a government-authorized laboratory in accordance with FCC technical standards. Importers and customs agents are required to declare that each radio frequency device complies with FCC standards, known as FCC licenses.

FCC certification process

  1. Declaration of Conformity: The responsible party (manufacturer or importer) will test the product in the qualified testing agency designated by the FCC and make a test report. If the product meets the FCC standard, it will affix the corresponding label on the product. Declare compliance with FCC standards in the user manual, and keep the test report for FCC request.

  1. To apply for an ID, first apply for an FRN, which is used to fill in other forms. If the applicant is applying for the FCC ID for the first time, he needs to apply for a permanent Grantee Code. While waiting for the FCC to approve and distribute the Grantee Code to the applicant, the applicant should seize the time to test the equipment.

The FCC should have approved the Grantee Code when all FCC required submissions have been prepared and the test report has been completed.

Applicants use this Code, test report and required materials to complete FCC Form 731 and Form 159 online. Once the FCC has received the Form 159 and Form 731 remittances, it will begin processing applications for certification. The average time for the FCC to process an ID application is 60 days. At the end of the acceptance, the FCC will make the original of the FCC ID.
